Unforgettable Moment

I must have been five or six when my grandpa took me to the grocery store with him one day. He let me ride on the bottom (where people now store a case of water bottles) while he pushed the cart around the store. The one thing he told me not to do before he started pushing the cart was the one thing that I did. What might you ask did my grandpa tell me not to do? He told me not to put my hands on the ground because he might accidentally roll over them. I’m not sure if it was the fact that he told me not to do it or that I wanted to see what it felt like, but it was a lesson learned because I never did it again.

I am thankful for my cousin Millicent

not because she was born on the same day as my mom and has her name, but because she is not only my cousin but one of my dearest friends, and the younger sister I never had, but always wanted.

My cousin and I didn’t always talk mainly because we lived in two different states, but we have been inseparable ever since she called me to congratulate me on my wedding in April of 2007. We don’t actually see each other that much but we talk every day. She is always there for me when I need her no mater what time it is, and she gives genuine Godly advice. What I like most about her is that she keeps it real. If I go to her regarding a situation that I think I might be right in and if I’m wrong she will definitely let me know.

I am so thankful that we have a close relationship, and I am thankful that she lets me know me when I’m right uh er…wrong.

Tea With The Twins

Friday, May 14th was my dad’s birthday and he wanted to celebrate it by having Tea at the Four Season Hotel in Philadelphia. He also wanted his twin granddaughters to come along even though I tried to persuade him otherwise.

I was 2 months pregnant with the twins

Though this was technically not the girls first time “at” tea (we went while I was pregnant) I just wasn’t sure how it was going to work with two “independent” 18 month olds. Tea started at 4:30pm and the girls were ready to go at 5:15pm. The good thing about having Tea is that the tea, sandwiches and scones don’t take long to prepare and came out at 4:45 so we had a good 30 minutes to enjoy everything before it was time to go.

All in all it was nice to go to Tea with my family for my dads birthday, but I don’t think we (the girls and me) will be doing that again until the girls are uh maybe four.

Unforgettable Moment

So I decided to start another weekly blog post where I blog about an unforgettable moment in my life.

This week my unforgettable moment involves Leah one of my daughters.

Leah reached her arms out to give me a hug and said “I wub you” When I heard those words it melted my heart and made me cry. I couldn’t believe that my little 18 month old daughter said that she loved me. I of course replied “I Love you too”

This Thursday I would like to feature my friend Tanika

We have been friends almost ten years, and I thank God for our friendship. Tanika has been there with me every step of the way encouraging me along through this journey called life. When we met we weren’t married, and didn’t have kids, and now we are both married and have two beautiful daughters. She actually just gave birth to the newest edition of her family (her second daughter) on May 11, 2010.

I not only consider Tanika one of my closest and dearest friends, but I also consider her my sister. When I think of Tanika of think of Proverbs 31 because she is truly a Proverbs 31 woman.

Tanika has a blog as well so stop by and check her blog out Me Myself & Family. I’m sure she’ll be updating it once she gets settled in with the new baby.

I think it is only fitting that I feature my mom Millicent Davis this week.

I have truly been blessed with the best mom is the world. I know many children claim that title for their mom, but to me there is just no comparison. I am so thankful for my mom I just don’t know where to begin. What stands out most about my mom to me is her determination, strength and kind-hearted nature.

My mom has had the ability since I was a baby to see me as I am and also as who I would become. She never dwelled on what I did wrong, but instead she focused how I should learn and grow from my mistakes. She has taught me to trust in God above all things, and to never let my belief and faith in God wither away. She has helped become a good mom, by being a great mom to me.

I really don’t think I can write a post that can capture the essence of how thankful I am for my mom, but I am blessed beyond measure to not only be able to call my mom “mom” but also be able to call her best friend.
